Three people were burnt beyond recognition as a petrol tanker fell and caught fire at Maje Village near Abuja

 The tragedy occurred around 7.00am early this morning. Several shops and residential buildings were destroyed by the fire.

An eyewitness said that the two occupants of the tanker and a woman who came out to collect her child were roasted to death.

The driver of the tanker reportedly lost control and somersaulted and rammed into several buildings setting off huge fire balls that consumed some twenty shops and 7 residential buildings.
Also an electricity transformer as well as properties worth thousands of naira were destroyed in the inferno. Three people sustained varying degree of injuries and were rushed to the hospital.

Some of the residents were seen lamenting on their losses.
