There was stampede early Monday morning in Minna, the Niger state capital as people scampered following a bomb scare at the Abdulsalam Abubakar motor park in Tunga community, an outskirt of the state capital.
confusion occurred when a shop owner on arriving for business sighted a black polythene bag and thereafter raised an alarm that attracted a large crowd to the scene thereby causing a long traffic jam along the busy Bosso road.
When contracted the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Pius Edobor while confirming the incident to Channels TV stated that contrary to widespread speculations, there was no explosion anywhere in the town but a discovery of a strange bag by a resident who quickly alerted the police.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer however mentioned that the strange bag is in the custody of the Police bomb disposal unit for proper investigation.
